Expression Engine 2.0 Preview at SXSW
Mar 11, 2008
News about the next version of Expression Engine is filtering out of SXSW this week. (Note to self: Go to SXSW next year.)
New features include an AJAX fortified control panel and (egad!) a real e-commerce module. But the big news is that Expression Engine 2.0 is built on top of Ellislabs’ own Code Igniter framework - a modern, lightweight codebase that is similar to Ruby on Rails. This is great as EE’s current architecture is somewhat archaic. Try writing an EE module and you’ll see what I mean.
Another blogger put it well: A designer dream tool becomes a developer’s dream tool. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
